Distribution Map:

Elandsberg Dwarf Chameleon – Bradypodion taeniabronchum

Size:

A small and slight chameleon seldom exceeding 11cm

Colour:

Typically a brownish green with a distinctive white stripe or patch along its flanks.

Habitat:

Favouring high altitude regions of montane fynbos

Field Notes:

A difficult chameleon to encounter due to its remote montane habits.  Along with the vegetation being dense and rather impenetrable. When agitated these chameleons will inflate their neck regions exposing a deep purple/reddish brown colour of the gular grooves. One of the more poorer documented dwarf chameleons due to their montane habits and remoteness.
