Description:
One of the rarer and secretive snake which inhabits harsh arid rocky regions of the Northern Cape in South Africa and the arid mountains of the lower Orange River basin, north into southern Namibia and Namaqualand. These snakes may occur in in a orange, brown, creamy yellow with beautifully patterned saddles along the back. The venom of this snake is a cocktail of neurotoxin and cytotoxins, bites are not life threatening and may cause pain and isolated swelling.
Anti-venom:
Anti-venom is not used or effective in the treatment of these bites.
